When I was 9, I was just starting out in hockey. My grade 4 teacher was a billet for the @windsorspitfires and she had a young goaltender named Peter Ing who stayed with her. When he made the NHL, he sent everyone in my class an autographed rookie card. That card made me want to be a goalie in the worst way. He was my hockey hero. I copied his stance, even asked my parents to buy me Heaton Helite II’s to mimic my idol. I wrote him a letter that year and he responded and sent me a personalized autograph. Athletes have no idea how powerful kind gestures like that can have!
Fast forward 30 years…I stumbled across @xhockeyproducts when searching for training aids to help my goalies. I was surprised to see that @petering_1 was the President of @xhockeyproducts. I had some questions about an exciting new product that I was going to purchase. I was blown away when Peter called me personally to discuss options. It is so cool that the goalie that inspired me to play the position 30 years ago is now helping me to support my students today.
