What could be better than scoring a goalie goal? How about doing it in a shutout, during a playoff game?
Lakeshore resident, Trevor Heslop, completed the improbable feat on February 20th while playing for the University of Michigan-Dearborn in WHAC Quarterfinal action. A longtime MLG student (he has been training with me for ten years), he has always been a skilled puckhandler. His attention to detail and his willingness to take calculated risks with confidence paid off handsomely on this magical play.
Last line of defense. Final Nail in the Coffin.
With minutes remaining and down by 3, the Aquinas forward sifts a lazy wrister into the body of Heslop. Without a beat of hesitation, the moment he receives the puck, he urgently gets it down and sails the biscuit 12′ in the air, well above the forecheckers. It didn’t land until the high slot at the far end. Dead center. The Michigan bench emptied, and Trevor was mobbed. He even got to do the bench fly-by to do a proper celebration.
“Coach, you’re never going to believe this. I scored a f%&*king goal!”
Trevor called me immediately after the game to give me the amazing news. I always love it when my goalies reach out to tell me about something amazing they have achieved, but I have to say, this post-game chat will be remembered.
Our goalies will have the opportunity to learn from him when he instructs at our 2026 Spring and Summer Development Camps.
When Goalies are taught technique and tactics in a developmentally appropriate progression, they thrive. Train with me, and you will see the difference in your game.
If anyone is looking to invest, Trevor is a founding partner in Summit Capital Corporation, an investment group he started in 2024 that has yielded its members tremendous gains in the stock market.
