Our Coaches
Derrick Laporte
Major League Goaltending Director (HBA, BEd, OCT)
MLG Director, Derrick Laporte is a former U-Sports goaltender for the Windsor Lancers. He also played junior hockey with the Lakeshore Canadiens and Essex 73’s. He has been a Grade 8 Teacher since 2005. Coach Derrick knows how to reach and motivate today’s youth and plan for their emotional, social and physical development. Seeing a shift away from ‘puppy mill’ style goalie camps, Derrick decided to branch out and create Major League Goaltending in 2019. “I saw a need for more individualized goalie development with a focus on movement skills, puckhandling and rebound control. My philosophy is that coaches should have high-level playing experience and possess real instructional credentials.”
